Benefit Companies are for Lovers (of the planet!)
The Mycrodrops team has always thought about how to make the world a better place. From our incorporation we have been designated a Benefit Company in the state of Oregon, and just last month we finalized our certification with Benefit Corporations For Good(BCFG.) Achieving this certification entails a comprehensive survey of our practices and values, covering everything from how inclusive our web design is, to how we communicate our values to our stakeholders (that’s you!) and how we practice sustainability and contribution to our community
We are very pleased with our initial score of 94% and we are already implementing suggestions from our partners at BCFG so that we can hit a comprehensive rating of 100% in our annual recertification survey next year.

Our commitments
As a part of our commitment to community we have recently soft-launched a Round Up feature to our checkout page, with a click you can add a dollar or five (or whatever you are able to contribute) to the organization listed. Our first recipient is the Umpqua Valley disAbilities Network (UVDN) - our intent is to change recipients quarterly, though we are not setting this in stone as it will depend on how much money we are able to raise. We will also be matching donations! Mycrodrops is committing to matching donations up to $6,000 per organization.
We have chosen to focus our efforts on small, grass roots organizations where every dollar makes an impact. Umpqua Valley disAbilities Network provides support and services to the community where we are headquartered. Over 40% of our county are Medicaid recipients, many of whom are disabled and we consider the resources provided by UVDN to be essential services.
We will meticulously document our donations to the causes we select, we are fairly obsessed with transparency in our activism and donations. If you have an organization you’d like to see on our Round Up feature please feel free to share it with us.
Sustainability, Social Justice, and Service
In addition to our fundraising endeavor, we have added three key statements to our website, finally verbalizing our longstanding motivations and standards for how we operate. We certainly try to communicate these ethical stances on a regular basis but it’s been very educational for us to distill them into official statements.
- Brand Manifesto - Why are we doing this thing called Mycrodrops? What the heck are we all about and where are we coming from?
- Sustainability Statement - How do we practice sustainability in our daily operations? How do we reduce our footprint while providing the best products and services possible?
- Social Justice - Where do we come from and who do we look to?
